No strategic plan or other business-wide initiative can gather momentum and sustain it without developing complete and integrated commitment, alignment, and action plans within each functional group in support of the business initiative.

Many business organizations leave such planning and alignment to each functional group to carry out, without realizing that much of what needs to be planned, developed, and committed to must go on among the leaders of those groups—together.

Level Three’s process for achieving true functional alignment ensures that every person and group who affect, and are effected by, the business initiative comes out of the planning and alignment process with the understanding, commitment, and action plans they need to be successful in support of the initiative and their group.
